Kingdom Rush- Tower Defense TD

Kingdom Rush is the first in a series of highly popular tower defense games where we are called to defend the realm of Linirea from the minions of the wizard Vez’nan. In our arsenal, we have barracks, mages, archers, and artillery towers, which we use to defeat the orcs, goblins, and other enemies rushing through our kingdom.

Each level consists of a path, and our objective is to make sure no enemies get to the other end of it before being obliterated by our defenses. What sets Kingdom Rush apart from most other tower defense games is that we have a main hero we can move around the map, and several of our towers spawn units that the enemies must deal with before they can march forward.

The enemies’ toughness increases as we unlock new levels, but since we also gradually upgrade our towers, the game remains challenging without becoming frustrating.

The controls are smooth and intuitive, making it easy to move units around, and build, upgrade, or sell towers. Unfortunately, the artillery towers are a little overpowered, and they are almost necessary for every late-game level.

The artwork is awesome, and each tower upgrade and hero have their own unique look that perfectly fits the signature Ironhide Games cartoony style.

Kingdom Rush monetizes via optional iAPs for additional heroes and gems used to buy consumable bombs, hearts, and potions. These purchases make the game a bit easier, but neither is necessary for a full game experience, as we get four free heroes, and gems can be collected through gameplay.

Despite its age, Kingdom Rush is rightfully one of the most popular tower defense games, and it’s an enjoyable introduction to the genre if you’re new to it.
